Erin Ellis, M.S.
Denver Public Schools
Early Education Department
Erin Ellis has worked in the field of Early Care and Education since 2001 with the following experiences. She worked at an Aurora, Colorado Head Start program from 2001-2014 and served in both Paraprofessional and administrative roles during this time. She was fortunate to experience the joy of working in preschool classrooms for eight years in Non Profit, Head Start, and school district settings.
Her areas of passion include teaching, family and community engagement, advocacy, and demonstrating to families that she believes they are their children’s first teachers. Furthermore, she thrives during her collaboration with families on the Denver Public Schools Head Start Parent Policy Council. This council allows families to have a direct voice regarding their children’s education as it applies to the preschool classroom and how they can prepare their children for the essential school readiness and life skills that are necessary in order to transition to Kindergarten and beyond.
Erin has also gained leadership experience through her roles with the following organizations. She is the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children since 2021 and the Colorado Head Start Association since 2023. Most recently, she has been nominated to serve on the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Affiliate Advisory Council from June 2024-June 2027.
Erin is the proud aunt of two wonderful nieces who are eight and two years old. She learns from them every day with their joyful, caring, and curious personalities. Her hobbies include watching professional football, reading and traveling, especially to the beautiful state of New Mexico to visit her large extended family. She is honored to be a member of the Family and Community Engagement Learning Network for the 2024-2025 school year.
